This was the Congressman’s first Columbus appearance as a candidate for Governor. There was a good crowd and the weather cooperated nicely.
Some highlights of the walking tour included discussions regarding 1) How important it is that the Whitney Young Building Site provide for appropriate affordable housing 2) The backyard of the Columbus Urban League Headquarters needs to have something done as sub-standard home occupation exits there 3) How Mount Vernon Plaza, a 1960-70s urban renewal project, continues to compromise the current and future social and economic viability of the community 4) KLBNA’s role recently and into the future to insure Long and Mt Vernon Revitalization and 5) How important it will be to protect, save and reuse existing neighborhood house, brick streets and alleys.
